Meet Our Doctor

Dr. Constantine (Conny) Athanasopoulos has been practicing orthodontics since 2002. A native of Winnipeg, Dr. Athanasopoulos received his Bachelor of Science degree and his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Manitoba. He practiced general dentistry for seven years in Southdale prior to completing his master’s degree in orthodontics at the University of Western Ontario.

Dr. Athanasopoulos is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and is a member of the Canadian Association of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontists, Winnipeg Dental Society, Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. He currently serves as President of the Manitoba Orthodontic Society and Director of the Midwestern Orthodontic Society. Dr. Athanasopoulos has returned to the University of Manitoba Faculty of Dentistry as a part-time clinical orthodontic instructor.

In his spare time, Dr. Athanasopoulos enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Maria, and children, Panayioti and Eleni, and improving his golf game. He is a saltwater aquarist who enjoys traveling with his family.

“I would go to the greek Isles.”

”I would like to speak French”

What is your favourite holiday?
“I love Christmas! The smells, the music, the sappy movies and gathering with family and friends! It’s such a special time of year!”

If you could go anywhere, where would you go?
”I would go to Africa. I would love to do humanitarian work, hike Kilimanjaro and go on a safari. I would love to see elephants!”

What was your favourite childhood toy?
”A barrel of monkeys! I asked for it two Christmases in a row. I finally got it on the second Christmas!”

What is your favourite outdoor activity?
“I love walking down the beach in Mexico!”

If you won the lottery, what would you buy first?
“I would buy a trip to see Van Morrison in concert, then follow him on tour!”

“Spanish!”

“Bluefish! It’s the best sushi in Winnipeg!”

What is your greatest achievement in your life?
“My daughter is my greatest achievement in my life. She’s so funny and sassy!”

“Chapters! I love reading books!”

“Potatoes. They are so versatile.”

“I used to love playing hopscotch!”

“I would not necessarily buy anything, I would travel and see the world.”

“My favourite sport to watch is the world junior hockey. A combination of the pride of wearing our country’s flag and the competitiveness with no monetary reward!"
